QR codes are two-dimensional bar codes that can be read by most camera-equipped mobile phones. QR codes containing web URLs are most often used as an easy way to link places in the real world to places in cyberspace. While well known in Europe and Asia, QR codes are far less common in North America.
EdQR codes are QR codes that hold data formats specially designed for use in educational environments. The EdQR codes presented here are preliminary and experimental.
This site was created by Richard Milewski expressly to open a conversation in the EdTech community on the topic of using QR codes in the classroom. Please join the discussion going on in the EdQR Google Group and share your thoughts on the effectiveness of the ideas presented here.
We'll be adding the capability to generate additional codes as suggestions are made in the discussion group. Currently, this page can generate 2 different QR codes:

Assignments in text EdQR codes are stored in the mobile device as text.
Assignments in WebCAL QR codes are placed in the mobile device calendar.
Text EdQR Codes are readable by more QR code scanners than WebCAL QRCodes and because
WebCAL codes require server-side processing, you must have an internet connection
to scan a WebCAL code into the calendar.
See the QR Readers Page in the EdQR Google group for more information about which QR scanners can process WebCAL codes.
